A few years ago, I thought it would be fun to take an interior decorating class. I figured it couldn't be that difficult and I enjoy the Pottery Barn and various decorating magazines! Well it was fun, but I also realized it was a lot harder than it looks. It's much more than arranging a few pieces of furniture or matching colors with fabrics. It involves mechanical drawing and architectural preciseness. Had I not taken this on as a hobby, I would have always wondered whether I should have pursued it professionally. Now I know, and I'm still having fun doing it!

The fall is a good time to get into a new project. The kids are back to school and the gardening season is about over. Why not take a ceramics class or a cake decorating class? How about an interior decorating class or a do it yourself class? Places like Home Depot and Michaels offer free classes in many of these categories and for a small enrollment fee, many schools or recreational centers offer them too. It's a great way to take some time out for yourself and who knows you may find a passion that you weren't aware ever existed!
